Dear Neighbors,

The Starr King Open Space Board of Directors is reaching out to our neighbors to ask for your help to protect and support our treasured neighborhood open space by making a tax-deductible donation to Starr King Open Space.

The Open Space and the 501(c)3 organization that manages it survive solely on donations and grants. With these funds, the Board is able to keep the open space safe, clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. This year, in addition to the monthly land steward events, volunteers have planted six oak tree saplings, rehabilitated a much appreciated bench, and installed a fantastic sign at 23rd and Carolina made from a headboard that had been abandoned on the open space!  In addition to maintaining the space, the Board was able to successfully defend the land from a massive development at 1321 De haro.

Whether you walk your dog on Starr King Open Space, enjoy the sunsets, or you just appreciate the value of wild open space, you understand that we can’t afford to lose this neighborhood gem. Without your donations, this land is vulnerable. Please do your part to help protect the open space and consider donating today. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Wishing you a safe and happy 2013!
