At the Annual Installation Dinner of the Potrero Boosters Neighborhood Association, following swearing in of the Boosters’ own new Executive Committee (aka Board) by Supervisor Sophie Maxwell, new Boosters President Audrey Cole presented Starr King Openspace President Caroline Bird with “The Serpentine Survival Award” in honor of stewardship of both the 3.5 acre serpentine grassland ecological preserve, and of the organizational structure and finances of the Board.
The award was given in recognition of the turnaround efforts of the Board in restoring relationships with the surrounding community, and with five government agencies, plus continuing native plant restorations, firebreaks and other maintenance, wildflower walks, and rebuilding SKOS finances – all, of course, with your help.
The award also highlights a close-knit collaboration with the Boosters, who have provided moral support during challenging times, including advocating for SKOS at City Hall regarding the neighboring residential development, plus the Boosters’ recent Matching Grant.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the Potrero Boosters Neighborhood Association for their recognition and strong support.
