Starr King Open Space needs your help…
…Saturday Oct 13, between 9:30-12:30, come out and help transplant purple needle grass. Purple needle grass is the California state grass, and it grows well on the rocky soils of Starr King Open Space. We collected seeds from the Open Space in the spring, and we have germinated about 1,000 seedlings! Now we need to get those seedlings each in their own small pot to develop a robust root system so that we can plant them in the Open Space in the winter.

IF you walk your dog in the Open Space you might be interested in this project because we are trying to reduce the fox tail grasses that can be a nuisance to you and your dog by planting these native bunch grasses.

It’s fun to be in the sun and get your hands dirty with your neighbors…we will be working from tables– no bending! No weeding! This will be an extra fun volunteer activity…see you Saturday!

Time: Sat Oct 13, 9:30am to 12:30pm
Place: meet at the southwest side of Coral Loop, across from Starr King Elementary, behind 1321 De Haro St.
